Today’s website builder tool review is of Webnode.
Okay, I just have to say that I am SUPER excited because 1) webnode’s site loads quickly, 2) I found out tons of information easily within the first two minutes on their site, and 3) they have a video to kick of their product! Yes! A video, a one-minute (well, 1:14) video that does, in my opinion, a fabulous job of getting a person excited about their product. Nice job, Webnode.
If you don’t know what website builder tools are, see my brief explanation here.
Industry Specific?
Nope. They are very clear that you can be any business type and use their tool.
As a side note, they have broken their tool into three tiers: personal, business, and e-commerce.
Pricing
You can have a free personal website with them. And they promise no ads will be placed on your free website (nice). They don’t mention a free business website tier. Here’s an example of what you can have for free and paid accounts. This is for their personal website service.
There are many different pricing structures with Webnode because they have broken things down in three tiers, so I won’t state them all here. It would be a bit confusing. It is, however, pretty easy to get to the pricing information for each tier on their site.
There doesn’t appear to be a setup fee.
Would you like some free help preparing for your site? Cool. Here’s a free download I created just for you.
Mobile?
Yes. This, like most website building tools, automatically generates a mobile version of the site.
In What Browser Does the Website Builder Work?
It isn’t stated, so I am going to do the usual and assume it works in most modern browsers.
Search Engine Optimization?
Don’t know what search engine optimization is? There’s a brief explanation in the Weebly website builder tool review.
They mention “detailed website statistics” in their features charts, but beyond that I have no idea if I can put Google Analytics tracking code in the site and I don’t know if I can put my own meta information in each page.
Blog Features?
Yes. The business and personal tiers support blogging.
Ease of Use
Like all of the builders, it promises ease of use, but I don’t see a demo animation/video or screen shots from within the builder. So there’s really nothing to sell me on the truth to their claim. Let down.
Use Your Own URL?
You can use your own URL with a Webnode account.
My Initial Impression
You don’t have to be just a website builder tool to get a high vote from me, but it helps. It is very possible to have a large set of tools for your customers to choose from and do them all very well, but then you need to be a large company with teams for each tool. Really, it is a big undertaking to “do it all” in an outstanding fashion.
So I am very happy to see smaller companies that just do one thing or a small set of things because I have more confidence that they have the resources to dedicate to developing those products to a high level and that they have staff that really know the product so they can be of great help to their customers. And Webnode does just that.
However, I am very sad that Webnode doesn’t talk more about SEO features and I am sad that there’s no way of previewing the website builder tool in action.

Even though I made it for people who are getting ready to hire a web pro, 80% of it will help you if you are building your site on your own.

I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was curious what all is needed to get set up? I’m assuming
having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny?
I’m not very internet smart so I’m not 100% sure. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Look at our website builder reviews on this site, specifically the ones that say they have blogging capabilities. That’s your best place to start if you aren’t too up on Internet skills.
