Website Builder Review: WebStartToday

My first impression of the WebStartToday website builder’s site is that it looks easy to get around. There’s a “features” and “pricing” tab and samples of designs, all accessible from the home page. This is wonderbar. Beyond this, I don’t find anything exceptionally good or bad upon first glance, so let’s dig in.

Industry Specific?
WebStartToday can be used for any industry. There is a “design showcase,” which is accessible from the home page. Here you can see samples of their designs in a larger format than on the home page.  The disappointing side of the “design showcase” is that I can’t find real-world examples of clients’ sites.

Pricing
It is free until you decide to publish the site. Upon publish, it can be as little as $8.25/month if you pay for 12 months at one time. You can also do monthly for $9.99 a month or hire one of their pros to build your site for you; this service runs $399.00, which includes hosting the first year.

In What Browser Does the Website Builder Work?
Pretty much any browser out there works with this tool as far as I can tell.

Search Engine Optimization?
The websites from WebStartToday are supposed to be SEO-friendly, but they don’t specify say if you can modify the titles, keywords, and descriptions. They do, however, play nice with Google Analytics.

Blog Features?
They don’t show blogs in the Design Showcase. They also don’t mention the ability to blog on their Features page, so I have to assume this feature isn’t part of their product.

Ease of Use
From their demo video it appears relatively straightforward to use the tool.

Use Your Own URL?
Yes.

My Initial Impression
WebStartToday’s website builder looks like it might be an okay tool, but there’s nothing here that is outstanding. And since I don’t see a blog feature and I don’t know what seo options I will have when working on each page, I’m not in a hurry to work with this tool.
