The BuildYourSite website builder looks like a promising tool at first glance. They have a very friendly video to welcome you to their product, though I didn’t see the interface of the builder actually in the video. Also, on their home page they tell you their base price (which is reasonable at $9.95/month), they let you know there is live support available, and they promise access to over 4,000 designs.
Industry Specific?
Their website builder isn’t specific to a particular industry. Their categories are broken down by industries, but any template can be customized to meet the needs of any business type. BuildYourSite’s Design Gallery displays thumbnails of their templates; you can view a slightly larger version by clicking the design. They also have a Testimonials page with recorded testimonials; nice touch! The recorded testimonials tell you their domain name so you can go check out the sites live if you’d like.
–> Note to BuildYourSite.com: The first testimonial talks about a site that is no longer live. <–
Pricing
They have a very clear pricing structure. Their base package is $9.95/month. Their highest package is $24.95/month. You can only have 10 pages with the base package and SEO Website Promotion isn’t included with the the base package either, and that’s a big deal.

Mobile?
BuildYourSite.com’s website builder doesn’t mention mobile compatibility. So I tried one of their customer’s sites on my phone and it wasn’t mobile responsive in any way. The site loads, but it is the same thing you see when you load the site on a desktop.
In What Browser Does the Website Builder Work?
Pretty much any browser out there works with this tool as far as I can tell.
Search Engine Optimization?
BuildYourSite.com’s website builder supports Google Analytics. They also have their own stats package. They provide the ability for unique meta tags, but from what I can tell, they don’t allow this feature for the base package, which is bad.
Blog Features?
This isn’t mentioned anywhere, so I have to go with “no.”
Ease of Use
They have a live demo of their product available to test drive, so I played with it and it does look relatively friendly. It isn’t drag and drop and you can only “move” things to specific regions. But it is pretty intuitive and BuildYourSite.com’s interface is clean in design.
Use Your Own URL?
Yes.
My Initial Impression
BuildYourSite.com is user-friendly, which is super important. But they lose points with me because of the lack of blogging ability, the seo features, and no responsive or mobile abilities.
