Today’s review is for the IM Creator website builder. I am a website professional who has been building websites for about 18 years. I mostly build sites for my clients in WordPress, but from time to time a client needs to have a website built in a drag-and-drop website builder. This is why I started doing website builder reviews. I wanted to know what my clients’ options were so I can send them to the best website builder for their needs. I don’t do these reviews for payment; no website builder is paying me to talk about or link to their product.
Is IM Creator free to use?
Yes! Here’s a brief rundown of what IM Creator offers for free.
- You can have a free website for an unlimited amount of time.
- You get limited support.
- You can use any of their templates.
- You get about 50MB of storage.
I am impressed that their free website account doesn’t have a time limit. However, you may not apply your own domain name to your free website, so you will likely want to move up to a paid account rather quickly.
How much does the IM Creator website builder cost?
This is the second website builder I’ve reviewed this year that offers their product on a pro level. Apparently, a lot of website builders resell their technology to other providers. IM Creator’s website builder is the most expensive offering I have seen yet and it is the best-looking one I have seen that advertises reselling.
How much does it cost to buy a domain name through IM Creator?
I am not sure. IM Creator has a lovely look to their site but they are light on providing details. I don’t know that you can buy domains through IM Creator, actually.
My opinion of the IM Creator website builder
I want to believe IM Creator has potential. It offers a forever free website builder account, has blogging features, and it has a shopping cart.
The problem is I have no idea about details. Describe and/or show me each of these features so I don’t have to create an account to try to figure them out for myself. Seriously. Other sites do a great job of showing example sites and demonstration videos so you have an idea of what you’re getting. IM Creator isn’t doing that at present, but it appears they are in transition. They have a lot of broken links and it’s really hard to find things, like pricing non-industry people. It all depends on the page you are viewing as to whether you’ll find lots or little information in the footer or elsewhere.
I do like their templates. They are competitive with other website builders. And, depending on where you are at on the site, you might find the templates broken down by release season, like Spring 2016 or Fall 2017. Again, this is very much dependent on where you happen to find yourself on the site.
My biggest complaint is that the site is disorientating.
For now, because things are disorganized and inconsistent on the website, I’d hesitate to send people to IM Creator. However, I suspect they will iron out their rough edges shortly and get their site consistent. When they do, maybe there will be more detailed demonstrations of specific product features.
