Webs.com Website Builder: Formatting Text and Background Colors on Your Website

My Webs.com website builder adventure continues today with formatting the text on each page to look as much as possible like my sample site. I accidentally figured out how to change the background color in the process as well :) To format my pages’ text and change the background color, it took about 20 minutes. I didn’t record all 20 minutes in the video below to be kind to your sanity. The process was fairly intuitive, but as you will see in the video, there are some things that have to be done manually, from page to page, and that just isn’t good if you want to have the same look on more than one page.

Watch the video:

Things that went well

  • I was able to figure out how to each task fairly quickly
  • They do have some global settings
  • I was able to set color using hex code
  • While the didn’t have the exact font I was looking for, they had something close enough.

Things that were very tedious

  • There was no way to set a style or formatting combination to be imparted on other portions of the pages I was working on.
  • When background colors were set, the settings didn’t transfer to all pages. The blog and gallery pages were left out.
  • I am still not sure how to customize headings in the blog page.

Overall Impression

You mean to tell me that if I had 20 pages to my site and I wanted to change a size to something that wasn’t in my global settings I would have to do it 20 times? Ugh.

I ran into the issue of having to set things up individually for each page when I first put the text in as well. The more I work with this builder, the more it seems best suited for a site that is well under ten pages.
