I think I’ve seen commercials for Intuit’s website builder tool. If not, there’s some other company out there that looks just like this.
My first impression is that Intuit has spent more time developing this tool than the other companies I have reviewed who have multiple products. So Intuit offers hosting, domain names, e-commerce, online marketing, and probably more. They offer a website builder tool as well. It’s been pretty consistent so far that website builder tools by companies like this that aren’t dedicated to just the website builder tool typically suck in comparison to the other companies that focus just on the website builder product. Intuit’s looks a bit more thought out than most, based on the landing page.
Industry Specific?
They offer a bunch of templates that are customizable to any industry, like most website builder tools. Their template designs are basic, clean designs. They have over 2,000 to choose from.
Pricing
Happily, Intuit offers a free 30-day trial. They also offer three tiers, which range from $7.99/month to $59.99/month. Their $7.99/month package is very limited in space, which might easily push someone into the second tier of $19.99/month. Like, if you are going to have a lot of photos on your site you’ll end up in the second tier in no time.
Would you like some free help preparing for your site? Cool. Here’s a free download I created just for you.
Mobile?
There is no mention of whether the websites are responsive or not, so I pulled up a couple sample sites on my phone and they are not responsive, so it looks like that doesn’t come with this tool.
In What Browser Does the Website Builder Work?
It doesn’t say, so I’ll go with the assumption that it works in the most modern browsers, like Chrome, Firefox, and IE 10. The majority of builders don’t say anything about this; because of this, I’m giving everyone the benefit of the doubt.
Search Engine Optimization?
They have site tracking of some sort. They offer a “traffic booster” tool for the highest tier, which looks like it sets up your meta information for you based off of your content. However, there is no mention of custom meta information anywhere else. From the information available, I think that you can’t put in your own meta information unless you are paying for the highest tier.
Blog Features?
I don’t see any blog features listed. I checked out some of the sample sites and found one that has a blog; the blog was at a different URL, so it wasn’t created within the tool. Folks, it really is better to have your blog at the same address as your site. Really.
Ease of Use
Their demo video is helpful. It gives a good overview of the tool. After watching the video, I think the tool looks very easy to use.
Use Your Own URL?
Yes.
My Initial Impression
It’s an okay tool. It needs its own blog, mobile version, and custom meta and title abilities to offer the same level of return on investment as its competitors. However, if you really, really want to go with a company that does more than just website builders, I believe you will have a better experience here than the other similar companies I have reviewed so far.
