I am reviewing the FreeStart website builder tool today. First Impression? Holy crap is this a pricey tool (details to come later).
Industry Specific?
They do the standard thing and offer a bunch of templates that are customizable to any industry.
Pricing
They have five pricing plans, the fifth one being a custom website build. There is no free tier from what I can tell. The lowest-priced tier is £149. As of today, that converts to $229.36. *Gulp*
The do, however, offer a 30-day, no obligation free trial of their website builder. *Wipes sweat off brow.*
Would you like some free help preparing for your site? Cool. Here’s a free download I created just for you.
Mobile?
They don’t state that their sites convert to mobile views.
In What Browser Does the Website Builder Work?
It doesn’t say, so I’ll go with the assumption that it works in the most modern browsers, like Chrome, Firefox, and IE 10. The majority of builders don’t say anything about this; because of this, I’m giving everyone the benefit of the doubt.
Search Engine Optimization?
You can enter your own meta information and you can put in Google identifiers for Google Analytics.
Blog Features?
It doesn’t say. Their one working sample site doesn’t show any blog link either. I am going with “no” for this feature.
Ease of Use
They have a very informative video that shows their tool in action. It looks relatively simple, but the tool looks outdated in comparison to many I have already reviewed. This doesn’t appear to be a drag-and-drop tool.
Use Your Own URL?
Yes.
My Initial Impression
They need their website’s look updated, their tool’s functionality updated, and they need to include features such as blogging and mobile/responsive.

Even though I made it for people who are getting ready to hire a web pro, 80% of it will help you if you are building your site on your own.
