Web.com website builder is different than Webs.com website builder, just so we are clear. I already reviewed Webs.com and you can read that review here.
Web.com claims they have “30 years of experience helping over 3 million small businesses succeed online.” My hopes are high for these folks.
Industry Specific?
They do the same thing that most website builders do by offering many templates that will work in many scenarios. They don’t seem to have any industry-specific tools. Unlike most, they have over 9,500 templates. Also a bit unusual, though I have seen this in some of the website builders I have reviewed, is that they offer starter content.
Pricing
Wow. They are so awesome they don’t need to tell us pricing. I guess their advertising is so great that you’ll be excited enough to just dive right in with these folks. I looked everywhere. No price details. Really? I see that they have pricing listed for the service where they build the site for you and it is $94.95/month. I found another pricing sheet for their eCommerce packages; those range between $34.95/month and $99.95/month. But there’s nothing about the do-it-yourself website builder pricing.
Would you like some free help preparing for your site? Cool. Here’s a free download I created just for you.
Mobile?
It doesn’t say, so I am going with “no” because most website builder tools are very specific that they do convert to mobile.
In What Browser Does the Website Builder Work?
It doesn’t say, so I’ll go with the assumption that it works in the most modern browsers, like Chrome, Firefox, and IE 10. The majority of builders don’t say anything about this; because of this, I’m giving everyone the benefit of the doubt.
Search Engine Optimization?
It doesn’t say.
Blog Features?
It doesn’t say.
Ease of Use
They say their editor is “point and click” editing. There’s no demos or screen shots of the tool in action.
Use Your Own URL?
Yes!
My Initial Impression
This goes back to the thing I keep finding, where if the company offers more things than a website builder tool I am usually disappointed. This is true here. Honestly, it sounds like all of their other tools and offerings are of higher priority than the do-it-yourself website builder tool. So if you are open to spending more for a team to build your site or if you are ready for a company to do marketing for your site, they can probably offer you some cool stuff, but if you are just getting started and want to do things on your own, I would probably look elsewhere.

Even though I made it for people who are getting ready to hire a web pro, 80% of it will help you if you are building your site on your own.
